Websites

I design and build websites in Squarespace, combining thoughtful design with a structure that’s easy for clients to use and maintain. Some clients choose ongoing support, but many prefer to manage their own content after a bit of guidance – Squarespace makes that possible without compromising on quality.

I take care of the entire process, from migrating existing sites and domains to setting up email via Google Workspace. I also enhance sites with custom code where needed – whether that’s refining layouts, improving form behaviour, or adding features that aren’t available out of the box. The result is a polished, flexible website that works both technically and visually, with a clear and structured handover once the project is complete.

Many of these websites sit within a bigger relationship – so you’ll also find them in their sector pages, from hospitality and the arts to charity and campaigning, alongside the print, brand and editorial work that goes with them.

Susi Hines

Susi Hines creates bold, distinctive jewellery in diamonds, gemstones, gold and silver. She opened her North Essex studio in 2008 after teaching jewellery, drawing and design in London colleges and developing industry-linked courses. She now shows regularly at Goldsmiths’ Hall and exhibited at the Royal Academy for the 2014 Anselm Kiefer retrospective.

I work closely with Susi to help showcase her work via an e-commerce website using Squarespace’s platform: www.susihines.com and help with site content preparation / management, email newsletters, packaging and literature design.

Tobacco Factory

A full rebuild for Bristol’s much-loved community hub, the Tobacco Factory. I moved the site from WordPress to Squarespace and added a custom automated events calendar, integrated table booking, Wi‑Fi newsletter sign-up and brand-led design throughout. I prioritised accessible web design: contrast, readable fonts, alt text, WCAG-minded build so the site works for all users. The team now has a site they can easily run themselves.

Tobacco Factory, Bristol
A website for a building with a big heart

The Tobacco Factory is one of Bristol’s great rescue stories. The old factory was facing demolition until founder George Ferguson bought it and turned it into a community hub. Today it’s home to a theatre, a busy cafe-bar, a thriving Sunday market, Mark’s Bakery, Five Acre Farm Shop, and thriving workplace, home to businesses that help the local community grow. It hosts a packed calendar of events that give back to the people who support it, and you can feel the love and care behind everything they do.

They needed a website that lives up to that. It had to be warm and approachable for visitors, and easy for the team to look after themselves.

The build

I spent months on this project, much of it close to full time. I moved the site from WordPress to Squarespace, so the team now has a site they can confidently edit, update and grow without needing a developer every time something changes. Seeing how relieved they are to have that freedom has been one of the best parts of the job.

I worked closely with their brand guidelines throughout. I used their official colour palette in its accessible, contrasting pairings and built their typeface into the site’s code, so every page feels unmistakably Tobacco Factory.

Going beyond the template

Squarespace gives you a great starting point, but this site needed more. Features I built in include:

  • A custom events calendar with its own look, designed to mirror the style the team use when entering events, and improved so regular events like the market and weekly sessions appear automatically instead of being added by hand every week

  • Integrated table booking through Collins, with pop-up booking windows that keep visitors on the page

  • Newsletter sign-up connected to the venue’s Wi-Fi data-capture system, replacing their old Mailchimp setup

  • Sticky sections and scroll animations showing opening times as visitors scroll, plus fine-tuned spacing and site behaviour so it feels polished on every screen size

Working together

A building with this many sides means a lot of voices. I worked with people across the organisation to develop ideas, balance priorities, and shape a site that works for the Sunday Market team, the cafe-bar, Mark’s Bakery and the wider community all at once.

What I took away

This project stretched me in the best way. Booking integrations, data capture, coded calendars and automation were all new territory, and I’m proud of how much I learned along the way. Most of all, I’m proud to have built something worthy of a place that means so much to so many people.

Anne Schwegmann-Fielding

Anne Schwegmann-Fielding is a mosaic artist and sculptor creating vibrant, textured art from reclaimed and found materials such as broken crockery, costume jewellery, old pennies and even shattered bus shelter glass. Her sculptures, installations and public commissions feature in museums, public spaces, private collections and community projects across the UK and internationally. Inspired by history, place and everyday objects’ stories, her work has won national awards, international fellowships and major cultural and public commissions.

I redesigned Anne’s site to showcase her beautiful work with large, detailed imagery that highlights process and texture, using subtle scroll and animation effects to create a refined, immersive viewing experience. I enhanced her original gold star graphic to give it a metallic, reflective finish and paired it with carefully chosen fonts and colour palette. The build includes custom CSS and HTML to ensure visual consistency and responsive behaviour across devices, while preserving her work’s tactile quality and clarity.

NowVisible

A trauma-informed website for NowVisible, helping bring visibility to a previously unheard community and supporting systemic change across law, health, and public understanding.

The project included creating a logo and palette and asset pack that could be used in several areas from the website itself, stationery, email campaigns and merchandise.

The website included generating some custom code in order to change some of the standard Squarespace styling.

Factory Foundation

Established in 2025, The Factory Foundation is a grant making charitable trust that focuses on supporting communities in South Bristol to innovate and strengthen their work around four thematic areas.  Grant rounds run quarterly, and fund both constituted groups and individuals with innovative ideas who want to test new initiatives or strengthen existing, impactful pieces of work. They support projects or activities contributing to the community.

This project included building the site in Squarespace offering further functionality like bespoke, coded form development.

Notre Dame Refugee Centre

This project was a charity website rebuild on Squarespace. I designed the visual identity and developed a fully responsive bilingual (English and French) new site for Notre Dame Refugee Centre, an independent London charity supporting refugees, asylum seekers and migrants. The project included the creation of a new logo and brand assets, alongside a modern, accessible website designed to serve a diverse audience. Careful attention was given to multilingual content management, user experience and clear information architecture, ensuring visitors can easily access immigration advice, support services, volunteering opportunities, events and donation information. The result is a welcoming and professional digital platform that reflects the charity's mission while helping both English and French-speaking communities connect with the support they need.
